Back in November 2007, Denver-based Westfield Development announced 1800 Larimer, a 22-story, 500,000 SF office tower planned for Larimer Street between 18th and 19th Streets in Central Downtown. Since then, the building has commenced constrution, with the official groundbreaking ceremony occurring on May 7, 2008. The initial plot where the building will sit had contained a smaller building which had to be demolished. Shortly afterwards the plot was cleared and excavation began for the 5-story underground parking garage. Xcel Energy has announed it will lease 350,000 feet of the building for its new headquarters in Denver, which helped push 1800 Larimer to commence construction.
