I guess they couldn't make the render work when framing it out of OSB.

It's the classic architect envisioned render, and the final "what the owner can afford" result.

This particular architect seems to have trouble getting their renders to match reality.

That's unfortunate. Still a good project though.

Agreed. Just getting that gap filled is nice. Funny thing is that without the render I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but now the rendering is just a reminder of what "could have been"...

You can see how the building is set back from the two on either side, the framing for the balconies will be added later.

The building looks to be set considerably further back in the renders

Basically, bringing Railside's Nordic housing project-inspired theme to the Exchange District. Oh and pitched rooflines and lots of black... which should all be enough to give away who the design firm is. Will be interesting to see if this one goes ahead.

Correct. It has been talked about here several times. I was told either 155 or 255 residential units (I know, big diff but I can't remember which) above ground floor retail on the entire main floor of the whole site. Should be an excellent project – and could spur redevelopment of the Eaton's warehouse – that would be incredible.

Was told by a construction worker yesterday that the balconies are still happening on the Princess side. On the addition fronting Bannatyne there are the same doors but they will just be Juliette balconies. Main floor of the two old buildings will all be retail, but was told main floor of the back addition is a residential unit, which seems odd.

Article in free press about RNDSQR project on Waterfront:

Twenty years after it was conceived, the completion of development of Waterfront Drive could be at hand.

Calgary developers, whose speciality is modest-sized downtown residential developments with special attention to design details, have recently acquired two properties just north of the Mere Hotel and intend to build more than 300 rental apartments split between the two sites

On one site between Pacific Avenue and Alexander Avenue — the current home of Great West Metal — the Calgary developers also plan to rehabilitate an existing heritage building to create about 16,000-square-feet of commercial/office space.....

Flaunt boutique on Waterfront moved to Academy in the old Cha Cha Palace location. I always wondered how they survived so long on Waterfront with no foot traffic.

It's been discussed here, there just is not much more information out there about it.
