No doubt he still has a few streets and buildings he needs to rename for politicians with little to no accomplishments. Oh, and Baseline Station.

I don't think I'd want Rick Chiarelli's name to permanently grace the name of Baseline Station, but I would be OK with naming the tunnel after him.

Just a quick bump to remind those of you who are interested in helping elect someone who has a dynamic vision for our urban core that I am holding my first meet and greet on April 16th. Please share and invite anyone you think might share our urbanist views.

Is the reason for this delay is maybe he is thinking about a possible run federally in Ottawa West-Nepean with a new Conservative Candidate in the running as John Baird will run in the new Nepean riding? When I've heard John Baird would not run in Ottawa-West Nepean, I was probably thinking about that possibility of Chiarelli running. A riding that might very well turn Liberal next year

On the other hand, Chiarelli still can do a few more terms, as I think he is turning 50 this year

I assume that you're referring to Rick Chiarelli? But since you've mentioned municipal and federal races here, maybe you're not. Can't be Bob Chiarelli... he's 72.

It is Rick I was referring to. I don't think Bob would try not because of the age (though Gordon O'Connor (Carleton-Mississipi Mills - assuming will run in Kanata-Carleton will turn 75 and no indicators he's not going to run in 2015), but probably moreso because of the ever increasing unpopularity of the provincial Liberals.

Martin Canning another one of the Somerset Ward candidates is apparently hosting a meet and greet about growth and urban planning on Saturday April 26 (this Saturday) between 11 am and 1 pm. It's at the Ottawa Public Library main branch, 120 Metcalfe St. (by the Metcalfe and Laurier intersection) in room B125.

Thought I'd put this out in case anyone is interested.

Not sure if any other media reported it (on the same day Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is expected to take a leave of absence) , but there is a third candidate for the mayor's seat. The article is in French as it appears as of now only Le Droit has an article. He was a candidate in 2010 and was mentioned especially regarding the infamous plastic cow from the St. Albert Cheese which was sitting on top of an Orleans store.

The Sun also had a brief article on him, Robert Gauthier, with not much substance:

C'mon, Watson doesn't deserve to run (basically) uncontested.

That's it, I'm nominating myself. My campaign slogan will be 'Stop Whining.'

There will be guest celebrity appearances.

Can you imagine the "content" on Ken Grey's blog for an election between Watson and S-Man?

I just checked the Mayoral Candidates page, and noticed that there is an individual by the name Robert White.

Is he by any chance the "Robert from Kanata" that calls into CFRA talkshows?

My guess is about 65%, with McGuire getting about 30% (mostly in rural Ottawa where he should dominate, with some suburban support primarily in Kanata and Barrhaven) and the rest getting the remaining crumbs.

If a candidate to the left of Watson runs, it might bring it down to about 55% given that such a candidate would mostly get downtown and inner-city votes.

A lot depends on what happens with him and transit. If he actually sticks to his pledge to cancel the LRT then boom, he's not getting anything more than 25%, ever, and Orleans will reject him with an unbelievable force. We saw Ottawans reject Hudak in droves simply because he didn't unreservedly support it.

But if he does get with the program on LRT, avoids any of his past anti-French demagoguery, etc., he might do reasonably well, maybe 40% or so, but Watson will still win of course.
