The Great Canadian "Which City Should We Bomb Out of Existence?" Thread

Some levity for a cold Friday afternoon.

The poll attached to this story made me chuckle. The context of the story made me chuckle even more. I remember when Winnipeg was featured in an Alpha Flight story more than 20 years ago - we were sooooo excited to be noticed!

My contention is battle field nuclear weapons to certain areas of Calgary

I am imagining the national news coverage:

...and as a result, Rob Ford is now banned from all Toronto-area KFC locations. In other news, Regina was destoyed today. Up next: the national weather!

'That's almsot 2 million people'.

I got a good laugh out of that one (although it is true). Perth is around 1.8 million, Regina just over 200 000.

Kind of reminds me of my son's baseball coach this year. He was drafted coming out of college and played professionally for a few years (in the minors.) He told us about one game in AA he pitched against Todd Van Poppel who was a highly touted pitching prospect. The local newspaper billed it as a battle of the $2 million signing bonus pitchers. Poppel's signing bonus was sometuing like $1.95 million and his was $50 000.

Saddle Lake. It serves no purpose other than a weekly story about some sort of violent incident and/or a drunk resident causing a fatality on a nearby highway.

I can't decide if Toronto is winning because people would love it bombed, or because Torontonians wish they could have their city in the comic.

Is there any way that could be described as "world class"?

Moncton!!

Or Whitehorse, because virtually no people live there! I also like how the poll is on the Calgary Herald website and 15% of people voted for what is most likely their own city to be bombed out of existence

HEY! Your not allowed to make fun of Moncton! You have to be from Halifax to do that!

As for Calgary no surprise really. The 15% are probably the locally-born people and know just how awful this city is! In all seriousness though I don't think there's any Calgarian born people left in the city. I've been here four months and still haven't met a single person born here!

That movie sucked. Not getting blinded while looking at a nuke going off?

^Lol

I'm flying over a good chunk of Canada on December 21st. I plan to get a good window so I can watch parts of Southern Ontario and Quebec burn!

Of course the Maritimes will be fine. We're cockroaches to the rest of Canada which fine cuz we'll outlive all of you!

If you look at the byline you’ll see that the article was written by a Leader-Post writer. It probably appeared in a number of papers, and by the looks of the results I’d say that it was in both the Calgary and Edmonton papers.

Well, Moncton may still get no respect, but we're getting a lot more national recognition than we used to. I guess that constitutes some progress don't you think?

May I suggest this handy link to show off what you'd do if you had your choice of weapon size and location:

My wife and I are both born and raised, as are many of our friends. Stop coming here and taking our jerbs.

The scale of destruction of the largest nuke ever tested (the Tsar Bomba at 50 megatons) is downright apocalyptic. I detonated this right on the Calgary tower:
