Yeah. That facade treatment sucks. And the glass sucks - to make this design work it needed to be virtually clear, with very little blue tint. I'm not sure that's allowed in Chicago.

They should have stayed with the original curved corners. It would have at least made it more intriguing to the eyes. I just hope the lobby turns out as nice as we all expect it to be.

If you're gonna be filler, no point wasting money trying to look like slightly more attractive filler.

Looks squat. Also, is that black glass or mechanical floor grates on the east side of the building?

^There's only one Optima1, JMT! Those are louvers.

Virtually clear glass would have been great. Anything but the same ol' blue glass. So played. NYC is leading the way in revolutionary facade treatments with 111 W 57th, 9 Dekalb and 45 Broad St. It's only a matter of time before we start seeing examples here.

When they started hanging it I thought it looked great per the pics Solar took back on Page 20. Such a difference

No. Guys, the pics do not do the glass justice. Really sharp looking in person.

I agree that it is a little squat, and think the curved corner would have been very cool, but the glass is good. I think you also need to look closely at the lobby level. And the roof level could be interesting.

I work directly across Franklin from this, I stare out at it from my 26th floor window. The glass reached about two floors higher than I'm sitting and it's somewhat frozen since then, they aren't making a ton of movement on the glass.

I have to say I somewhat agree with a few other people - ho hum. I walk by the building and I just feel it's squat and lifeless. There's nothing there to make it unique, a large dark blue glass squatty box. Plop.

Have to say I was really excited by the CNA tower initially but disappointed by the end product. It's a forgettable building.

why do buildings like this take so long to wrap glass around but if I remember correctly a massive building like Trump was getting a floor of glass every week?
