What would it take to get Abbotsford to join Metro Vancouver?

I know that Abbotsford has left the Metro Parks system; cutting its last ties to Metro Vancouver. What would it take to get Abbotsford (and by extension Mission) to join Metro Vancouver, and what are the reasons for staying in the FVRD?


I mean, it is a suburb of Vancouver in many ways after all (at least more than say, Bowen Island).

Give them services that they don't have to pay for is the only reason I could for them joining.

Get everyone to pack up and move to Langley?

Really, some of the existing suburbs get neglected enough as it is without adding one more. Especially one which is already content (politically and geographically) with being its own city.

Abbotsford is further from Vancouver than Tacoma is to Seattle. I've never considered Abbotsford a suburb.
