Very sad news indeed. I had the pleasure of meeting him and chatting with him while he was here to work on the MacEwan University CFAC project, truly an exceptional individual and legendary designer.

Big loss for the local and international architectural community.

Hopefully the Baptist Church and Commercial Drive Safeway projects are built as he envisioned to help cement his already strong legacy in this city.

Was it Bing Thom who designed the proposed First Baptist high rise? If yes, we have indeed lost a great architect. That is one of the most beautiful projects in the city.

889 Homer is one of the best condo towers ever built downtown. Timeless and elegant, unlike its Concord contemporaries.

I fell in love with his architecture back when the original Hotel Georgia building was proposed:

From Bing Thom's website. Never noticed the symmetry between these 2 buildings before.

He certainly left his mark on Surrey City Centre and was a visionary for the area. Probably would have been written off as a member of the "Surrey Defense League" by some on this forum. Looking forward to one more by him with the addition of the new SFU building underway on this same block.
