Actually, the view of Central Park from that vantage point won't be altered that much by One57. It'll go up just behind, and slightly to the right, of Carnegie Tower, which itself isn't blocking any view of the park from the picture above. If one were to move west along the roof of Rockefeller Center, it would block the park, but from the vantage point in the picture above, it wouldn't have a material impact on the view of the park itself.

Right, it's the Tower Verre that will alter the view most. Still, even then you will be able to see the park, but it won't the the unobstructed view of it you get now from the observation deck..

Nice. Still hard to believe there's a 1,000 footer rising on 57th.

Presumably, it will be joined soon by two more 1,000+foot towers at 221 W57th and 40E 57th!

Help me with my coordinates. What are those?

I know 225 (Extell's other site), Drake, and Verre will be 1,000 footers.

221 and 225 w57 are the same site, which is covered by several different addresses. 40E57 is part of the Drake site.

Does anyone know what those steel forms at the top floors are for? Never saw anything like it; except for pouring concrete walls.

It's just enclosed scaffolding. It might have the forms for the columns integrated into it too.

It's really pretty incredible that this won't really start to even be entirely noticeable until its about 650 feet tall or so. Hopefully in a year or so you'll start to see some cranes on Extells other 57th site from that same vantage point.

It's called an RCS (Rail Climbing System and it is a Weather-wall and safety protection for the workers placing re-bar and concrete fly-forms for the uppermost floors.

A construction worker at Trump Tower in Toronto explained it this way:
