HEY!
Question, what is the smaller historical building to the right of 40 Wall street?
Was it there before it's construction? I ask because I have always wondered if it was the reason 40 had to be shoved where it is, instead of getting the full 'Corner Block'.

That is the one. I always thought it kept the builders from being able to use the whole corner. Instead the only have a small strip in the front of the builder for getting in and out.

Hey interesting fact...that corner building is 44 Wall street, completed in 1927! Only one year before the construction of 40 Wall St.

It is 24 stories tall and the architects were Trowbridge & Livingston. It is 329 feet tall! and in the neo-classicism style.

So it was not an architectural hold out...

I have a question that i have wondered about for quite some time, and i was wondering if any of you would be able to answer it.

I am aware that the lobby of 40 Wall Street was changed during the renovation in the 90s and i was curious if there is any sort of documentation of what the original lobby looked like.

This is a gorgeous prewar beauty. The crown is better than 70 Pine (another beauty minus its antenna). I can't wait for its conversion to rental apartments.
