Photo gallery of the U.S. Pro Cycling Championships now up and running: http://www.usacyclingchampionship.com/gallery/

Also, RT you need to post your pics of the new fountain at Riverplace on here seeing how that is a new Greenville development.

I already did. They're over in the Photos Thread though rather than in this one.

Yea...they somehow approved every photo I uploaded with the exception of the two where I mention the builder and developer by name, though. That's the meat of it, really, in my opinion. The developer and builder have been completely irresponsible. What's the point in getting the word out if they're not going to cite who's responsible for the mess yet not taking responsibility for it?

I noticed a new sign in the window of the old Woolworth's store today, advertising the bank that's financing the redevelopment, so there must be some pretty positive things going on of which we are not yet aware.

I really didn't know that Greenville is a cycling center. Thanks for the pics Skyliner, that last one shows an active downtown there.

Here are a few from Sunday's USA Pro Cycling Road Race Championship for starters.

The peloton is arriving at the start/finish line for the fourth of five times:

A frame grab from my video of George's victory pose just before crossing the finish line:

The crowd in downtown was massive today!

Developer Tom Croft, who has already developed two condominium projects downtown, is mulling a 10-story, 60-unit condominium building near RiverPlace in the West End.

I REALLY like the way Greenville's sidewalks are designed in the above photos. They are very European. Really, they are just part of a good, solid urban design concept...but let's face it: America doesn't have too many streets that look like that.

Huge Announcement!!!

Here is the massive announcement we were anticipating! Greenville is contemplating moving all county offices to a new multistory building at Magnolia Park Town Center, which would leave the current space wide open for a massive mixed-use development that would "change the face of downtown."

Read more and discuss.

A major hotel is part of the deal, if the move is approved by Council.

a nice quote:
Quote:
Retailers such as the Cheesecake Factory or an Apple computer store would find the 66-acre Magnolia Park more attractive if it was the base for the 800 to 1,000 county employees now at County Square, he said.

What a cute little Burgh. It reminds me of Bellevue (high tech suburb of Seattle: Pop. 115,00) about 10 or 15 years ago, except that Bellevue skyscraper population has triple in size in the last 10 years, with several towers (mostly 5 star hotel/condo projects) reaching up to 450 ft. in the sky. Maybe that good fortune will reach your sleepy little hamlet someday. Anyway, your town is beautiful. Nice pics!
