Nice neighborhoods have shops on the corner, and a mixture of housing options. Most every neighborhood in Sandy is a cookie cutter subdivision filled with single family homes. The only neighborhood in Sandy I don't think should be swallowed into the earth during an earthquake is historic Sandy.

I agree Cololi. This is the 222 S Main thread. The bash Sandy thread is the MSA thread. Let's move it over there.

No, I've hated Sandy since I was a little kid. Whenever I met anyone from Sandy, they had the biggest attitude and were the biggest pains in the ass. I've never cared for Sandy since. I'd never heard of Dolan... but he, Nancy Workman, Greg Curtis, et al., have definitely added significantly to my dislike of Sandy.

This attitude is because of their insecurity about class. Looking good is part of the reason those people moved out there. They can own a bigger house for less, and look as though they've risen in society. Then they let it go to their heads and end up teaching their children classism.

I don't know if anyone is interested or if this info was already posted, but I contacted Bruce Bingham of Hamilton Partners regarding the official height of this building. I am trying to update Emporis on this. He e-mailed me back with the following info.

The height of the roof is 307' and the height to the parapet is 313'.

In case anyone wanted to know.

Why would anyone want to know that in this thread? That has nothing to do with Sandy! hehe

Yeah, a couple of years ago I was told by someone downtown that the tower would be the same height as the American Towers, which stand at 324.

Bah.

Which still confuses me so much. They look way more than 25 feet shorter than Utah One.

Thanks for the updates, RC14!! I've adjusted to the schedule T-Mac posts updates on, so yours were a welcome surprise tonight. Thanks!

I am astonished by the rapid pace of construction on this building. Hamilton Partners dicked around on planning and design for this one for ten years, and then they get to construction, and it's this tall in three months!!! They're getting close to the half-way point aren't they? At this pace, it will top out before the end of the year.

I never thought HP would get this project off the ground, and now look at it go!

Great!

T-Mac: Love the last shot and the one from the rear entrance to the Monaco. For that last shot, you must have been a contortionist, almost lying on your back.

Thanks.

Offices go green

Developer Hamilton Partners is working toward ensuring that the 22-story office building under construction directly south of the Hotel Monaco is the first LEED-certified high-rise in downtown Salt Lake City.

I wonder if we'll see some cladding start on the lower levels anytime soon?

I think we will see the cladding starting to go on the lower sections in late November of this year.
