Flakeboard Castle

Tega Homes Centropolis.

Does any one know why this project has been taking so long? Also the exterior has been exposed since early March. Flakeboard + Rain

I believe there is already a thread open for this project - it's probably labelled after the property address and not the site's marketing name. But if I remember correctly, when the foundation was being built there was issues with the neighbouring house falling into the excavated hole. Plus Tega is a relatively new builder so they probably don't have a huge budget to hire multiple trades like the Claridge's, Minto's and Ashcroft's in the city.

Drove by this one the other day and I find that the choice of buff brick cladding is working well on this one, almost making it look as though it has been there for decades. It may end up looking rather better than I had expected. Not that it turns the building into a winner, but once again "it could have been worse".

Agree with you there, the scale is very good and the castle battlements don't look nearly as awkward as they did in the early renders.

I'm still grumbling about the missed opportunity for at least one commercial space at the corner, and I haven't heard anything that would earn them a pass for damaging the neighbouring properties. Anyone else hear if there's been any remedy or resolution on that?

I've walked by it a number of times in the past couple weeks and agree with you and kwoldtimer. Some issues remain, but it's far better than I expected it to be.

Whoever chose the shade of brick deserves what little praise this building should get - it makes it resemble the old mid-rise construction that is more typical of Centretown east of Bank Street, and which is nice to have repeated here.

Has anyone occupied their condo yet? Any residents care to share their opinion/experience with this project?

The CGI video of the lobby shows something that could be an elevator (wall facing the entrance, left of the light). It also could correspond to the empty rectangle located just below the staircase on the floorplans. This empty space seems to go all the way to the roof, based on the top view posted earlier in this forum. It seems very small, though, maybe I'm wrong.

If there are no elevators, that would seem like either a pretty big oversight or a sign of incredible cheapness. That being said, the exterior looks a lot better than what I had imagined. Nicer brick than the originally proposed red.

Not as bad as a 10 storey building having no garbage chute - *ahem* looking at you, Domicile.

No kidding - what is their deal with garbage chutes!?
Most annoying minor inconvenience imaginable.

Who doesn't like an elevator filled with garbage juice or taking a leisurely stroll down 10 flights of stairs with a Glad bag in tow?
