I was watching a show that I like called Covert Affairs, it airs on Showcase here and USA network in the US, and they had a shot of the one of the characters getting on a bus at Gore Park. The show is set in Washington, and the bus said DC transit.

^^ Nice. My first 'movie shoot in Hamilton' experience was also in Gore Park!
I was heading home from school, and in Gore Park was Al from Home Improvement waking a handful of dogs. I believe it was also set in Washington, DC.
I wonder if that movie ever came out?

^^^ Another movie that was shot in and around gore park was Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal. It filled in for downtown Detroit. It was shot in the early 90's. The old Robinson's and Royal Bank buildings were still around then and are shown in the movie. So are many of the businesses and alleyways in the area. It was all shot overnight and hundreds of people went down to watch.

Casino Jack (Kevin Spacey) and Talk to Me (Don Cheadle) also had Gore Park/downtown in place of Washington.

Nice to see Hamilton being used in place of cities that aren't run down (ie. Detroit).

Was actually the 'new' CIBC bldg in that movie. Jill Henessey is killed right infront of it - well, her character, not her LOL
The Robinson's Bldg is not there either, you're thinking of the old RBC Bldg.

Quick Note: HUGE pet peeve in Exit Wounds; they're trying to be Detroit but make ZERO effort to edit out the TO skyline including CN Tower!! LOL So lame!
I've watched this movie more times than I'd like to admit. Thanks A Lot, (what was formerly) TBS (how I miss thee).

I knew the CIBC building was in it, but I was sure that the Jill Henessey character was killed off in front of the old Robinsons building.

By the way I worked security on that film. Made some good money and talked to Steven Seagal a few times. He was a nice guy.

"The Listener" was filming in Gore Park monday and Tuesday (don't know if they were still there today). They closed the section of King St between James and Hughson (former 27/22/23/24 bus stop). The building had a "National Bank of Toronto" banner so I'm assuming they were filming a bank robbery.

Noticed that many of the outside shots on Dan for Mayor are filmed at City Hall, and have also seen them on the roof at Hamilton Place and even a shot of the AGH.

There was a lot of big trucks and trailers for film crews in the parking lot at Catharine and King. They looked to be shooting something in front of the Connaught.

Club 77 aka Nirvana North

There was a film crew either setting up or tearing down infront of club 77 on King William this morning, which was renamed "Nirvana North" for the shoot I think. Also lots of trucks and trailers behind. Does anyone know what TV show or movie this is for?

There's were a number of trailers set up for a movie shoot on Kenilworth Avenue near Main Street today. Does anyone know what they are filming?

Living in Your Car is a good series filmed in Hamilton. It's a comedy about a disgraced executuve trying to make a fresh start in the corporate world.

Rick Mercer scales Albion Falls — no joke
Comedian impressed by different side of the city

http://www.thespec.com/whatson/artic...-falls-no-joke

Rick Mercer is set to show the country a different side of Hamilton.

In Tuesday’s episode of The Rick Mercer Report on CBC, the comedian repels down Albion Falls with the help of Hamilton Police’s Emergency Response Unit. He was stunned by the beauty of the waterfall and suspects the scenery will surprise many viewers who have a different impression of Hamilton.

“I don’t think that when people think Hamilton they think stunningly beautiful,” he said, noting he was also impressed by the waterfall’s easy accessibility.

One of his favourite parts of the show is showing people parts of Canada they don’t know well, Mercer said in an interview. Though he’s been to Hamilton a few times for special events or to film segments, Mercer said he isn’t very familiar with the city and enjoyed experiencing its natural offerings.

Mercer filmed the segment in late October and left a positive impression with the officers who dangled him over the rushing water.

“He’s very trusting,” said Constable Darren Murphy, a repel master with the ERU. “He doesn’t hold back at all.”

Murphy noted police are frequently called to Albion Falls and other locations along the escarpment for rescues or to search for evidence. The team regularly practices high-risk repels to be sure they are ready for an emergency.

Though respectful of the officers’ skills and training, Mercer did take a few pokes at the team.

“He made fun of us,” said Murphy, who is eager to see the final cut, which will condense a day of filming in the city. “We had a lot of fun.”

Mercer also spent time with the force’s Action Team bicycle unit downtown. He’s a fan of two-wheeled policing, which he notes is like a throwback to beat cops. “They seem more accessible.”

The bike unit had to battle a bit of bad weather, but no criminals during the shoot, Mercer said with some disappointment. “We didn’t have to solve any crime.”

Acting Staff Sergeant Marty Schulenberg, head of the team, said he was impressed with how easy Mercer was to converse with and his respect for policing.

“He really does come across as an everyday guy … but you can always see the wheels turning,” Schulenberg said of Mercer’s quick wit.

The officers taught Mercer take-down techniques and some bike skills, including driving down stairs at Jackson Square.

“Except for a collision with a water foundation, he did really well,” said Schulenberg.

Mercer said everyone he encountered in the core was friendly, especially “when they took a second glance and realized I wasn’t a cop.”

Schulenberg added the Action Team enjoyed Mercer’s visit as a chance to show off their proactive policing approach, which has lead to 1,500 arrests and 1,900 charges since it launched in May 2010.

“It was an opportunity to show what we do,” agreed Murphy.
