Nope, except for a luxury rocky mountain passenger service.

As the region grows, it's possible the tracks through downtown will be used for commuter services. Right now, no heavy rail commuter service exists - outlying communities are too small and LRT serves within the city.

PVM may not be very flashy, but its design has aged remarkably well. Will The Bow be seen as a timeless skyscraper in fifty years?

Personally, I find EAP to be Calgary's most interesting and elegant tower. The Bow is kinda ham-fisted from the back.

I think elegant describes EAP quite fittingly.

When does EAP II go up? I'm anxious to see it.

Paging Whiteford!

Don't get me wrong I love EAP, but to suggest the Bow will not be seen as an amazing building in 50 years is laughable. Unless in 50 years time square boxes are what's cool and curved unique buildings are so 2010

I actually do feel some of today's organically-shaped buildings will look dated in fifty years. This current trend of curved buildings is coming about because it's now technically and financially possible to build them. I think over the years we'll be seeing more and more abstract buildings like Absolute and The Bow. The evolution of this architectural style could very well cheapen the original towers. Kind of in the same way some postmodern buildings haven't aged especially well.

All I'm saying is that 50 years is a very long time. What we're building in 2060 will likely be dramatically different from today. Place Ville-Marie doesn't appear dated, I'd imagine most people would be very surprised to hear PVM's half a century old.

And they're all getting a fresh black paint job right now. Montreal and Toronto are very fortunate to have Mies towers.

did the same architects design the ones in Calgary or did they just do a miniature tribute to the ones in Toronto?

Seeing as the TD Centre was Mies's last project before he passed I would have to say no.

And if you're talking about The Oil and Dome buildings they're not 4 sided nor do they have exterior I-beams on them or open airy base and lobby areas, the trade mark style of a Mies structure.

Yeah those don't even look that similar to Mies' TD centre, they look more like the TD Building in Vancouver, designed by Cesar Pelli.

This building has always reminded me of the TD Centre, although clearly a very poor imitation.

Yeah that Calgary building has 0 resemblance to Mies.

These do, however...
