Maybe all cranes are in use, they're waiting for the Charleson or Tate to hurry up.

July 19th Update

My photos

There's still no tower crane in the residential tower pit yet. Given the size of the bolder in the office excavation, I'm wondering if they're encountering tougher soil conditions than expected?

Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad someone caught it as it was going up.

Nice, thanks! It's neat to see those usual angles come to life, ambient sound and all. And it's kind of mesmerizing watching the method of moving that fill around with the stepped piles and ramps.

I wonder if someone can explain the large concrete cylinders at the bottom of the building. I presume they are "manholes" but it doesn't seem they connect to any city services (electrical, water, fiberoptics, etc). Do they just dead-end into the earth at the bottom or are they somehow functional? Surely there are no connections to an outside service that deep elsewhere in the area of the building.

I've been curious about this for many of the buildings that go up.

They're the catch basins for permanent sump pumps for the bottom parkade level. They'll have piping connected to them for water and electrical before the area is back filled and concrete is poured.

Hey, I'm surprised I didn't run into you again. The people that watch over this site must be used to people coming around with their cameras.

Some more pics from yesterday in the more photo friendly even light.

I got my 4 mile walk in yesterday thx to the smoke screen, I have to stay out of the sun as much as possible. I always look for you, one day we'll run into each other again.

Arrow A dated link but still pertinent, I think. Completed BP renders, worth looking at.

This older link from The Vancouver Sun provides renders of what to expect visually when completed. I give it a C+/B- but others have their own opinions. Interesting to get feedback if any.
A tad "retro-Honolulu" for me

Nothing wrong with that! To be honest I loved all the retro Mod. buildings in Honolulu and the rest of Hawaii. We rented a big house built in 1968 in Kailua, mostly original, it was fantastic.
