Better than Google Earth? - Microsoft Live Search Maps

This is absolutely amazing.

I'm still very faithful to Google Earth, but this Live Bird's Eye View is very cool. Too bad you can't zoom out too much but it's still amazing.

I wonder what Google will come up with.

With the bird's eye view, we can see pretty much any construction project in near-real-time. I just had a good look at the Canada Line tunnel, The Rise, Crossroads, the Convention Centre, 2HG,...all pretty recent up-to-date images (maybe a couple of weeks old at the most)

Nice find SFU!

Well, I'll give them credit, it's kind of up to date compared to Google Earth (Shangri-la is like 20 storeys, compared to a hole in the ground...).

But with most things Microsoft makes it's not very "usable" the inability to scroll out further is rather annoying.

Great find! I think I just shit myself
Google is starting to use side angles more and more as well...
Wonder if I could use their map API.
Edit: weird, looking at the Canada Line OMC, there was just a metal structure there...as soon as I moved to the right, it went to a time almost a year later!
Edit2: wow, it just changed between 2-3 points in the last 2 years!

Yup I noticed that too. And if you rotate your view, it can look even more different. At my house, the lot behind me is building a house and is almost finished. I can see the old house in place in the initial view and a vacant lot if I rotate my view.

Yeah, just noticed the rotate feature. I can see what's on my patio on it!

This is really amazing. I can now see what is in my neighbors backyard that he protects with a barb-wired fence - a shed.

Completely agree. They are going to release Canadian Cities street view soon. It's taking a while because they have to "blur out faces and license plates" because of privacy issues.

Yes, but most of Canada does not have that option mapped.
