Oh my god!!! Those towers destroy the skyline!!

They are far too dominant and the designs are GROSS!

Those towers are too tall and they destroy the classic skyline from 1972.

Oh geez!

Traynor made that render before all the monster proposals were made for Habour and Bay Street:

90 Harbour/ 1 York - 239.5 meters
90 Harbour - 239 meters
10 York - 253 meters
460 Yonge - 207 meters
88 Scott - 205 meters
Massy Tower 197 Yonge - 200 meters

Where the hell is Traynor anyway...

Probably in some Massage Parlour in San Fransico getting his feet rubbed????

That one's already a little out of date. Its missing:

1000 Bay
460 Yonge
88 Scott
94 Cumberland
Richmond-Adelaide III
90 Harbour
10 York
Gansevoort
Pinnacle on Adelaide
45 Bay
200 Dundas E
Nicholas Residences
506 Yonge
245 College UofT Residence
Peter St. Condos
159 Wellesley
8 Gloucester
15 Mercer
Picasso
156 Front W
99 Blue Jays Way
Studio on Richmond
The Bond
271 Front E
263 Adelaide W
401 King W

There are more but I'm not sure if they'd be visible from this angle. Also didn't include ones with no design released yet.

and then some...

And then throw in the rumored supertalls, plus how ever many proposals we've yet to see in the next 10 years...

And yet some of you here think it would be a stretch to compare Toronto circa 2020 to Tokyo today;

http://dubaiwallpaper.blogspot.com/2...o-skyline.html

Why?
I don't think we'll be comparable to Hong Kong in that time, but Tokyo is not a stretch - in terms of skyscrapers at least.
Here's a Toronto/Tokyo comparison based on the SSP database using official height

Toronto built, u/c & proposal vs Tokyo built up to 2012

900ft/274.3m - 3 vs 0
800ft/243.8m - 7 vs 1
700ft/213.3m - 18 vs 13
650ft/198.1m - 25 vs 18
600ft/182.9m - 36 vs 34
500ft/152.4m - 73 vs 101
450ft/137.1m - 103 vs 158

Tokyo of course wins out density wise for skyscrapers but Toronto wins out in terms of height so imo you can realistically argue that Toronto,
as soon as 2015 will have as strong of a skyline as Tokyo 2012 - so its not a 'lol' comparison.

Heck, throw in Tokyo's u/c & proposed projects and its;
900ft/274.3m - 3 vs 0
800ft/243.8m - 7 vs 2
700ft/213.3m - 18 vs 14
650ft/198.1m - 25 vs 19
600ft/182.9m - 36 vs 38
500ft/152.4m - 73 vs 116
450ft/137.1m - 103 vs 176

But that doesn't included countless projects detailed on UrbanToronto.ca and not yet imputed into the SSP database.

Toronto does have some fantastic projects under construction and proposals in the public domain. But until there are several towers in the 300m range, and at least one office tower passing 400m, then it will always be lagging behind the skylines of the far east with numerous supertalls and density.

Still waiting (very patiently, I might add) for Leftcoaster and/or caltrane to fill us in with the inside scoop on the purported supertall(s) that are in transit.

If you check his profile it's clear that he's still visiting SSP (and UT) regularly. He must have just stopped posting.

I'm not sure who the original artist of this rendering but I love it.

Kitchener's skyline is very VERY small right now but honestly all it needs is one - three towers to poke above the rest and I feel it would be a very nice, understated skyline. With the LRT coming and the City Centre towers(as rendered in this pic) coming, I'm sure more highrise development will be spurred in the core in the years to come.

Thats my pic, and I added the new Center Block and Arrow Lofts proposals. I posted that in the Waterloo section about 3 yrs ago... almost no changes in all that time.
