No denying there's oilsands. Just a bit of a stretch to say it probably goes half way through the Province with nothing to base it on.

Potential bitumen bearing geography on the extreme NW border of Sask./AB is no secret.
It does cross the border in slivers from the Athabasca basin in Alberta and some day may have have the potential to produce, in the right market conditions. But a poster even posted a link earlier from a bankrupt company 2.5 years ago saying it is not feasible at the present time but their is some potential.

As for your theory,No. Do you remember how this discussion started?

I keep hearing that Saskatchewan has more oil sands than Alberta so you haven't seen anything yet.
This is just not the case.

You most likely heard right , the stories have been floating around for a while , just as there were no sources of some of the worlds richest potash veins in the regina area until their were recently announced , just as the rumoured oil play that was just posted , people just don't say things for nothing in a a lot of cases there are no sources until they are announced , who would of thought all that potash and oil was right under saskatchewans feet

Diamonds

Saskatchewan is thought to have the largest potential for diamond mining of any place in the world. The first discovery of kimberlite (a potentially diamond-bearing rock) in Saskatchewan was made in 1988, in the Sturgeon Lake area, about 30 km northwest of Prince Albert. Kimberlites were discovered in the Fort à la Corne area in 1989. With greater than 70 magnetically defined kimberlite bodies identified, the Fort à la Corne kimberlite ranks as one of the largest in the world.

The most current information on Saskatchewan diamond exploration and development is available in Saskatchewan Exploration and Development Highlights.

City to explore an outdoor patio smoking ban

Couns. Paula Havixbeck (Charleswood-Tuxedo) and Dan Vandal (St. Boniface) are proposing a motion to ask the province to explore the idea of expanding the indoor smoking ban to outdoor patios.

Bars are Non smoking here already, I don't know if that would apply to the spaces connected to bars for smokers to to go outdoors. Well, I guess it still is a patio in a sense, but not a sit down dining experience. Non Smokers wouldn't have to walk out into an exclusive smoking area.

Christ, just ban smoking completely already. Next it will be you can't smoke at home or in your backyard.

FYI I'm a non-smoker for two plus years now. But it's just ridiculous already with the stipulations. Yet people are legally allowed to consume alcohol and drive their vehicles.

I seem to remember there was a time in Calgary where it was illegal to smoke on outdoor patios, but there was no indoor smoking ban in place yet. Kinda bass-ackwards.

I am a non-smoker and For Winnipeg, I hope we just let patios be. People can walk and smoke on the sidewalk, so for an outdoor patio, I am not sure what the big deal is.

I hope we could let it be as well. Although I realize it will eventually change.

So Sports Illustrated's MMQB has been providing in depth coverage for week one of the CFL... this little exchange at the airport was noted in today's edition:

Quote:
How about this travel note from Jenny Vrentas, leaving Manitoba Friday morning after covering Winnipeg’s opener?

Customs agent: “Who do you work for?”
Vrentas: “The MMQB … Sports Illustrated.”
Customs agent: “What were you reporting on in Winnipeg?”
Vrentas: “The Blue Bombers!”
Customs agent: (incredulous) “For Sports Illustrated?”
Vrentas: “The MMQB. It was Canada Week, sir.”

She was allowed to leave the country.
This kind of thing seems to creep up regularly in articles about people coming here from abroad for one reason or another. Is it some sort of CBSA policy to act amazed when people state that they visited Winnipeg for some reason besides visiting family or hunting?

I realize those agents aren't paid to be tourism ambassadors, but man, can't they at least be less embarrassing as they go about their jobs?

I think Jeff might be thinking of the CATSA security guys who make you dump out your bottle of water before boarding.
