Thanks for the photos. I'm still completely undecided on Altitude. I don't know if I like it or not. On the one hand, it is not tall enough and is somewhat bland. I'm also not sure if "the annex" works. On the other, it is completely unlike anything else downtown, and the cladding is growing on me a little. I'm just glad we don't have about 30 of these going up! One is ok.

Just saw Altitude from the SW corner of University and René-Lévesque. It has a blank wall on the southern part of its lower floors. They are covering this wall with bright red brick (which does not match the rest of the building).

That's precisely how I view this project.

I'm wondering what's with the blank red brick wall in this photo? Why didn't they use the same material as the rest of the base?

Thanks for the pics. I love the effect of Altitude from its thin side next to the short pudgy art-deco-esque University Tower. I'm not a fan of the "phase 2 annex" though, it looks like a tumour.

Despite TOM condos being mediocre architecture (and the least exciting condo project downtown, IMO), I think they are needed to balance out things out and plug the gap between Altitude and the Telus Tower from Phillips Square.

I preferred the old design of TOM, with the Louis-Bohème cladding to the new one. More urban.

Seen from René-Lévesque Blvd. West near Union Street.

Seen from the corner of University Street and René-Lévesque Blvd.

Seen from the corner of University Street and Cathcart Street. (my favourite angle)

Seen from the corner of University Street and De Maisonneuve Blvd.

After studying the plans a bit, I think there are 2 floors left. I am basing this on my shot from the René-Lévesque and Union, where the large balconies on the side seem to have stopped 2 floors from the top of what's currently built. According to the plans, there should be 4 floors at the top without balconies on the south side (30, 31, 32, 33). 30 and 31 are built, so that leaves 32 and 33. Of course in reality, this is a 32 floor building since there is no 13th floor, so 30 floors of 32 have actually been built. There will also be what looks like a mechancial floor on the roof as well as the ornament.
