Nooooo....the 3 guys that were installing the diagonal beams got scared shitless when they looked down. (And therefore, they quit.)
They are looking for the next fools to do it!

(Of course, I'm joking. You knew that, right?)

Nice shots! Is that a setback I see for the beginning of the hotel portion of the building?

^Great pics.

It's at the top of the business portion of the building... see the model - that's the lighter colored glass section. On the first floor of that section - 3 floors.

Basically, right around the 650ft mark as far as the steel ... (if I'm correct):

if that's the case, and it might well be, I wonder why the slip forms are still in place? Of course there's the old question of why the core passes thru the hotel floors when it doesn't function as a core. Maybe they are thinking toward the future when the hotel floors turn into office floors. This seems doubtful to me.

hotel is only 14 floors? I always thought it was more than that for some reason.

If you look to the left of the top in that picture you'll see the inside of the form, with a concrete section to the right of it. And looking at the new pictures the concrete sections have been placed in front of it. I'd also guess that the backside of the forms help hold those up while the sections are being placed and secured.

The design of the office floors is pretty cool with the 3 story staircases along with the smaller ones connecting all the floors. Would seem to promote a little extra walking during the day instead of riding an elevator for one floor.

Has this internal design/layout been used anywhere before?

The best since One Liberty Place tbh. Although I don't think any new tower will ever be able to steal the crown of most iconic on the skyline from One Liberty Place, pun intended.

That's why there needs to be a Three Liberty Place. Taller than One Liberty, with two setbacks (so in between 1LP's 3 and 2LP's 1) and a shorter spire. That would allow it to stand out as the city's tallest building, without stealing the luster from 1LP.

2LP sucks.

I would agree that 1LP is still the winner for anything built after PSFS. I've often thought that it needed another 10 to 15 floors to give it more balance, balance between the top and the shaft. Fat chance that it will ever happen, but I guess they could, maybe, with enough engineering and money, add more floors in the future. I'm sure if I ask the owners very nicely to do this for me they will give it every consideration; ya right.
