I think you're right:

View from the Civic Center, 17th floor of the Fox Plaza June 26, 2018

The top of the construction (see base of white crane) can now be seen from my apartment. (Photo taken with a telephoto lens).

The question now is will I lose the view of the San Francisco Bay Bridge tower? It appears that 500 Folsom will not block the view! I am hopeful. I used to see all 4 towers. I will have the answer in a few weeks!

THE FOUNDATION - There is interesting reading at the Balfour Beatty web page, see the link below. The building is on the Colma sand formation to the east, and on rock on the west. I do not see where there are pilings indicated for the eastern or western part of the building. The foundation has been constructed to take into account the differences of the underlying conditions of the ground.

Great shot from your 33 Tehama vantage point fimiak! Thanks for capturing and sharing what we can’t easily see.

Kind of neat that from this vantage you can see the right of way of one of the former sections of the embarcadero freeway. It's visible on the white roofed building across Folsom. They recently built out that little section, but in the lower right corner of the building you can see the angled portion of the prior facade. And then of course you can see it in the building behind 500 Folsom with it's odd angled orientation.

that was one of the first things I noticed and appreciated too (besides, as viewguy said, the enlightening angle)

You can see it from a distance. I'll try to take a zoomed in photo tomorrow.

Thanks, fimiak! Looks like you can see the glass on the north side.

Also, found this picture (wasn't sure how to resize) which shows glass on the east side.

I believe what's in the photo above is the midrise (?"affordable") portion. I'm hoping for a lot better from the tower.

To remind everyone:

I think the tower looks ugly.

Pedestrian is correct, we’re seeing the podium portion, but the rendering for it doesn’t show that combination of textures and colors. As for the tower, we’ve far too often seen good renderings that don’t turn out to be reality. Just look across the street at The Avery for a good example of that.

The glass looks fine. It's the panels on the ground level not lining up that looks cheap. The rest of the panels don't look that bad to me.
