My shitty pic.
They appear to be taking down the old bridge, they weren't next to the new one.

So those suspension towers are the old bridge right?

When I first looked at that pic I just thought omg, they completely cheapened the design to death! :S

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know about what's going on with the proposed pedestrian bridge over the Elbow River connecting the Riverwalk with Inglewood? The last I heard of it was when the Sun had a few "oh no, another bridge" articles and I believe the CMLC was on record saying that it was a proposal only however the new Riverwalk section seems to have left a space for the western approach. Will we see any movement on this project this year?

The pedestrian bridge still appears in some of our designs for another project in the near vicinity. I think it is still a go.

The Elbow River Transverse is still listed as an infrastructure project on the CMLC website. Interestly, the website notes the following "The Elbow River Traverse will be presented to Calgary Planning Commission on April 12, 2012 and is subject to final approvals from the City of Calgary". I'm not too sure what the outcome was though.

Here are some renderings of the bridge that I'm not sure has been posted to the site.

I think this is a go for this summer, at least when I'm talking to cycling advocacy groups and Alderman Carra... Also talk about 8 Ave SE becoming a cycling facility (it would tie directly into the Elbow River Traverse).

A couple of big arch pieces being delivered to the site this morning, they were on eastbound Memorial blocking all the lanes except one to make the turn onto that small zoo bridge.

as a Bridgelander, I'm honestly pissed off that this is not connected to the LRT station.

No one is going to want to walk this bridge after dark

Hopefully, the permanent portion of the structure isn't damaged. Falsework can be redone much easier.

So WIGS and I were just talking. We came up with the idea that maybe we should have an SSP meetup for the opening of the St. Patrick's Island Bridge next year, just as was done for the Peace Bridge. Would anyone be interested? I know it's far off, but whatever
