Had me fooled a couple of days ago when I drove by ... It had the colour of what the final cladding may look like but it didn't look like the cladding itself.

It's coming together

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this but I do know they still need a lot of money to finish up.

The NMC will be named Studio Bell.

Weird, you'd think they'd name it Bell National Music Centre which would seemingly have more cachet than Studio Bell.

"Studio Bell" is rather pretentious-sounding.

The logos look good in that link, the name seems really non descriptive though. Hope people still call it National Music Centre.

Sounds like the company name is Bell National. I always wondered if there would be confusion between the NMC and the Canadian Music Centre eventhough they are quite different organizations.

"Studio Bell" is a name that completely undersells what the building is.

I had a little twitter conversation with NMC, and it might be "NMC at Studio Bell" or Studio Bell, home of the NMC". Both of those are better, but I tweeted back to them that "National Music Centre" should be emphasized.

If you have out of town guests, and you tell them that they should go, they are much more likely to go to the "National Music Centre" than to "Studio Bell."

I suggested on Twitter: " National Music Centre - sponsored by Bell". The next and last option should be "Bell National Music Centre"

Does it matter? My family still calls the Performing Arts Centre just that, never do we call it the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts. We might even get more specific to the particular venue there that we are attending.

Never the less, I do not like the fact that every major public facility has to sell off it's naming rights but in the end it doesn't matter that much to many. The Saddledome is still just the Saddledome, Lindsay Park Aquatic Center is still just that to me - of course this could be because I was around when these facilities were built and their names weren't sold off, many people probably call Lindsay Park the Talisman Centre because they don't know anything different. It's always been the Talisman Centre to them.

The one rendering of the ground floor logo does still say National Music Centre on it below Studio Bell, so theres hope.

Andrew Mosker of the NMC was on CBC radio this morning and called it the "National Music Centre at Studio Bell".

I know this is nitpicky, but I would have also preferred the name Bell Studio over Studio Bell

Naming of stadiums, convention centres and institutions after corporate sponsors always struck me as one of those things that companies think are a good idea but are impossible to quantify the benefit.

Sure it gives you increased name recognition, but things like Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton? Surely whatever they paid is too much money in a town where they have 95% market share already

The advantage of Bell Studio is being able to say' 'go check out the BS.'

Agreed that the National angle needs to be played in the name.

To me the name sounds french because usually studio goes before the company name whereas English is the opposite.

Rode through there yesterday evening, under the arch/bridge - wow, it's quite breezy there, almost like a mini-wind tunnel. If there are indeed any patios planned near the arch, they may not be all that comfortable due to said breezes unless what I experienced isn't the norm.
