LOL... almost every other major US skyline is more impressive than Houston's "in person"... St. Louis, New Orleans, Baltimore and certainly Miami. It's b/c the skyline is essentially one wall of supertalls that block any of the other interesting structures from view (the old Gulf building and Neils Esperson have long been lost in DT skyline shot, except from the east) Houston takes a great picture, but past that other cities have the hand up. Plus it helps when you've got something happening at street level too, which is still lacking in Houston.

I'm starting to see the point of other forumers here... why do we keep having to do this boosterism crap for Houston. It's a great city, but we shouldn't try to make it into Miami or Paris or Austin. We need to be glad for what we've got and what we're getting, learn from other cities about what they do right, and continue to make Houston better. That's not going to be accomplished in a boosterism thread.

^^I agree completely. Houston is a great US city on its own, I enjoy it when ever I visit, its got a massive and cosmopolitan feel to it.
Matt just seems to have some type of inferiority complex going, I might understand if I was bashing Houston, but thats not the case. The things happening in other cities are impressive and fun to watch...Miami just happens to have grown tremendously in the last 10 years.

St. Louis is impressive because it has the arch, New Orleans is impressive because of a large lake, Baltimore is impressive because it has older structures, Miami is impressive because it over built with the inclination it was going to have all of those high rises full of people...which was opposite the case.

That's right the title is wrong, it should be comparaison of Paris and Houston skyline or something else.
The comparaison was quite interesting, that's right the the form of La Defense and Houston downtown skylines are similar, even if the height are different.

I doubt anybody with a mind would pick Houston over Paris, so i wouldn't call us online warriors. But skyline-wise Houston wins, almost everything else Paris wins, but then again Paris has has a longer time to develop itself as opposed to Houston, so this shouldn't even be discussed.

Houston metro area:

Personally, when compiling these I was particularly impressed by Houston's GMP per capita and per job. I didn't expect it to be so high. It's higher than almost any other US metro area in fact, including NYC.

this is such a silly thread. i love houston but would drop everything fora chance to move to paris. the city is lovely and has everything. Houston is an infant when it comes to cities and if given a another 1000 years to advance would still not compare to paris.
