Well not quite a similar fate. Lee plaza has been reduced to a shell and has little prospects for redevelopment. The Book Tower has not been scrapped-out (yet) and still has a real possibility of re-use. Unfortunately, I have not heard any news since the January 2010 announcement by the Key Investments Group that they would renovate the Book Tower.

Another large Detroit building that is closer in fate to the Lee Plaza is the "legendary" Michigan Central Station (MCS):

This train station (designed by the same team that did Grand Central Station in NY) has been closed for about 25 years.

In order that I not be perceived as being too negative with the two ruin shots, the following are some close ups of the 28 story Fisher Building which is in very good shape and has always been in use since its completion in 1928.

(included so you can see the entire building)

Wow, if I didn't know what city you were shooting in I would have sworn this was Tower 42 in London..

Though now that I compare the 2 I see they have very different materials.

What they've done to the Michigan Central Station is unforgivable.

That's the breathtaking Guardian Building, currently home to the offices of Wayne County.

Poor Sears Tower, I just wanna send the thing a great big toque now, it looks so cold up there! I'd have to include antenna holes in it, though
