I love the first one, I believe it was the former HQ of CP rail, it's now an uber-swanky hotel.

The second one is a dope re-cladding of the formerly vile quebecor tower.

Using your backspace button is an option, rather than contradicting yourself in one sentence.

Sexual appeal aside... The Bow's density is awesome. I hope to see more buildings of this magnitute, especially with regards to residential, in Calgary's skyline.

Here's a larger version of that.

I'm pretty sure those were just for construction.

I dunno, you can kind of see the stump of the crane, probably being disassembled and the other structures look like 3 guyed antenna's. I just can't really see how structures like that would be useful for construction. TD center also had an antenna that isn't there now.

Looks like one of the TD towers had the same three pole setup during construction.

Interesting, I'm curious how those 3 masts/antenna were useful in construction.
But more pressingly...

Everythng south of Union station was a horrid industrial wasteland. That is why the elevated Gardiner was allowed to be built.

Every city in North America was like that around that time. Some still are (to an extent)

It almost seems like the bulldozed entire blocks just to make way for parking lots. The automobile really helped destroy a lot of inner cities. They can also be blamed for the removal of streetcar tracks in most cities.
