Mallard Cottage's beer garden opened this past week, and it is glorious. $5 beers and ~$5-$7 cheeseburgers, pulled pork, etc from the smoker. Views of the gut on a sunny summer evening are okay. https://twitter.com/NLtweets/status/882336424342769665

Quesada has opened a second location in town on Hebron Way next to Cora. I'm surprised that Taco Bell hasn't bit the bullet yet and opened here. Seems like a real resurgence of Mexican chains with the likes of Burrito Jax in Mt Pearl, Mucho Burrito opening soon in the Avalon Mall, Burritos in the old subway location on Topsail Rd. Seems like no brainer fir Taco Bell.

Jumping Bean is now offering cold, nitrogenated coffee at some of its locations (I think Harvey Road, Atlantic Place, and TD Garden - Elizabeth Ave will have it later this week). I was sceptical, but it's actually quite good. Looks and feels like Guinness. Tastes like coffee.

Fog City is moving out of the Avalon Mall and will be building a stand-alone restaurant on the updated parking lot. That will leave quite a large space next to the cinemas.

A new restaurant specializing in Bosnian cuisine is hoping to open soon on Boncloddy Street ( http://www.thetelegram.com/business/...boncloddy.html ).

Excited to see family owned restaurants opening in this part of town. Just a block or so away from Soul Azteka.

Any chance of a Dennys in there too?
Yes, Denny's is now advertising for a manager for a Sandman Hotel location. So, it's Moxie's and Dennys

The City of St. John's has received an application from Parlibright Holdings to rezone 90 Duckworth Street (former East End Fire Station) to the Commercial Central Mixed-Use (CCM) Zone. The purpose of the rezoning is to redevelop the property into a brew pub and coffee shop with restaurant which includes an outdoor patio.

Unfortunately this has been stalled (killed?) by a zoning issue:

Awesome use of this building. Hopefully it goes through council. I think, if done right, they will do fantastic here (from the 3 hotels alone on their doorstep !! )

Cant wait to see it done

Quidi Vidi Fish and Chips

How come no one told me there is a fish and chips truck next to the brewery in Quidi Vidi? Well worth a walk to the gut. Probably my new favorite fish and chips and dressing and gravy in town (edging out the Duke). Quidi Vidi Fish and Chips plans to stay open throughout September and maybe the first few weeks of October.

Hmm.. they're pretty strong with the 'NO BEER on our lot' statement, yet there's beer in their batter!

Georgestown Bakery is closed indefinitely.

http://vocm.com/news/georgestown-bak...inite-closure/

A neighbourhood landmark in the capital city’s downtown has been closed, and there’s no word on when it might reopen.

A sign posted in the window of the popular Georgestown Bakery indicates the business is closed “indefinitely” due to “personal reasons.”

Local residents are expressing disappointment and concern over the news.

Few details are available as to when the business will reopen or the cause of the closure.

Not sure what thread this belongs in but it does have two restaurants in it.
They started clearing the land for this project last week. It's directly across the street from the Holiday Inn Express at the Airport. From what I hear it's supposed to be a North Atlantic Station/Orange Store with a Tim Hortons and a Subway also attached.
Here is the city's link.
