I think since Vancouver's suburbs almost all have their own sizeable skylines they deserve their own photo thread.

I'll start off with some dope pictures from Highgate Village posted by y nigel at SSC.

Took a short transit adventure today and got some pictures of major Surrey and New West developments.

Inifinity Phase I looking nearly complete on the outside.

Inifinity Phase II beginning construction, while Sky Towers will be built where all the trees on the right hand side of the picture, across the street are.

Central City in Surrey and Holland Park renovations continuing

City Point site ready to began construction soon

Medium rise development project Evo breaking ground

More stupid townhomes going up right along King George Highway

Got a good shot of the SkyBridge and the Patullo

I'm just generally against townhouse developments, unless they are in a strictly residential area. I mean, sure townhouses are better than single-family, but why can't we have medium-rise apartments instead? That's a minor quibble though. My largest issue with the development is building houses directly adjacent to King George Highway. Because of the traffic on that arterial, I promise you that the developer will erect a wall along the roadway to minimize the noise issue. Not only does putting up walls isolate the people into a "walled garden" type situation, it also does not make for a pedestrian-friendly walking environment. Plus, King George should be a commercially-lined street. Why have townhomes, when we could've had a multi-level, mixed use development with commercial on the ground, and residential above?

^What's up with those photos? I imagine they were taken last winter, but the difference in weather between the first and second shots is nothing short of amazing. From winter to summer in 12 hours - That's Vancouver weather for you.

At least its not single family homes so at some point in the future the site can easily be densified. To build what you want we would have to possibly wait for another decade or more, now at least there is something there. And being crapy wooden townhomes im sure their life span will be nice and short.
