A for sale sign went up for this land again in August, there's now a "sold" sign on it. Does anyone know who purchased it? I'm wondering if we will see this go up anytime soon.

Probably. I hope they don't use the same brick and cheap design.

ANYTHING would look better than that 27 story blank wall behind Crapridge Plaza III/IV haha.

I have to say, I really didn't mind the black and grey checkered building we got in the revised development. It was different, at least.

What I really don't like is the wall of condos of 26-27 stories, built lot-line to lot-line.

Just take a look at Albert and Queen Streets, at the western edge of downtown; although shorter in height, the buildings there are also stuck together, producing that awful canyon effect.

I don't see what is so objectionable about either of these physical features.

Lot-line to lot-line beats "towers in a field", any day.

Does anyone have news on this? Walked by here today and it looks like they started site prep, the area was fenced off and they were tearing up the ground.

To be fair, the total number of blank walls is not increasing.

The new building will directly abutt the blank wall of the Claridge towers... so they will remove (from view) one blank wall but add a new one at the same time.

Eventually all blank walls on Rideau will be replaced with a wall of 27 storey mediocrity.

Walked by this today. Permit hung to fencing states that the building height has been increased to 29 stories. Retail will be facing Rideau side but no word on what happens at ground floor on the Besserer side.

They're about 2 floors below grade.

Hoping they stick with the proposed design. Wonder if they increased to 29 floors by reducing the height of each floor or if it will end up twenty-odd feet taller, which could add a slight variation to the flat skyline.

It’s a rental now instead of comdo, so rest assured it will very likely be the same building height, but will have lower ceiling heights in result two additional floors... also,
It will likely be challenging claridge for poor building materialize

Look to dows lake and Preston for the higher end architecture in the future.

I thought it was a university residence now? In any case, you're probably right; the additional 2 floors likely come from reduced floor plates.
