I think many of Philly's surrounding satellite cities are very well connected and in some cases doing as well, relatively, to Center City.
They are well connected with transit.
Rare in US.

This is exactly it, while areas around center City and some other areas are flat, the edges of the city especially northwest and west Philly are very hilly or protected.
I also want to add that several corporations have moved into the city or the area, namely chubb and there new tower. I don't think center City will ever be a true office hub but that's fine
Downtown la was an office hub and outside of 9 to 5 jobs it was DEAD
Center City has a lot of variation in purposes and I think that makes it more flexible and unique

No one considers DC to be underperforming in spite of the huge % of office space that exists outside of the city proper. Of course the height limit is a major factor there, but the reality is the DC metro has office space spread out all over the region and in spite of great public transportation you see huge suburban office buildings built next to huge multi story parking garages in many cases. Similar to this area so many well educated, high income people live outside of the city that would prefer shorter commutes and safe/sterile suburban office complexes that are totally removed from urban ills.

That's exactly not it. Philly underperforms within the region economically because of its byzantine tax and regulatory structure. The physical environment has nothing to do with it.

Plenty of cities in other regions have no "physical boundaries" and account for larger shares of their regions jobs. Like, every city in the sunbelt and midwest.

I love The Carson for the size and density of it, and what it means for the area, but man this and 200 Spring Garden are gonna put it to shame in the looks department

Nice video and close up of those one - what a good-looking project (the building officially topped out last week):

The plain concrete pre-cast panels on the interior courtyard and the back of the building are disappointing (especially people who look out onto the interior courtyard!!), but otherwise this building looks amazing.
