I didn't know about Liverpool, the confederate fleet, Mason-Dixon line, etc. Bizarre.

True......Most Americans don't even know that Big Ben is a clock.......

Well pretty much the only British Prime Minister Americans have ever heard of is Wiston Churchill (MAYBE, Neville Chamberlain). Besides Tony Blair and Margret Thatcher, of course. I think it goes both ways.

At least you Brits get some PMs noticed internationally. I doubt many outside of Canada have heard of Sir John A. MacDonald or Brian Mulroney or Kim Campbell or Sir Robert Borden. Hell, even some of our own citizens draw a blank when hearing Kim Campbell or Borden.

Well Kim Campbell was Prime Minister for all of 4 months so I don't know why that should come as much of a surprise.

And frankly, coming from a Canadian, who cares about who our PMs are? They wield little international influence and abide over a peaceful quiet sparsely populated country. I'm always quite surprised when someone from outside of Canada has any knowledge of Canadian politics.

About the only one who accomplished anything of note on an international stage is Pearson, and as much as I would like more people to know about him and his contributions, I'm not surprised the majority do not.

I'm afraid he is not as so well-known as other American presidents. Probably because he was more concerned with home issues rather than European affairs.

By name he is fairly known in Denmark since he is often mentioned in US TV shows and film..

From educational sources it's mostly how he refused a seperation of the union and got more than half a million people killed in the following civil war.. ( as a small nation that isn't too pleased with it's EU membership that's history we don't want to see repeated )
