I think for K-C-W, but I am not sure about that. I think the Region averages about 6 homicides per year, iirc.

Toronto is way down this year from last. I think we are at 17 now where as this time last year we had hit around 35.

Yeah, Toronto had that 1 off year last year. I'm glad there's been a big decrease this year from last.

Two more in Edmonton, a teen was intentionally run down by a car in the west end of the city and a 67 year old man was stabbed in the neck in his home in the north-west bringing the total for Edmonton to 20 so far

Another for Edmonton, a man shot dead in a strip mall parking lot in the north end, brings Edmonton to 21

Police are investigating the death of a newborn, which has been deemed suspicious. If confirmed as a murder will bring the total to 22

With Edmonton at 21 and Calgary at 8 means Edmonton has more than 2.5 times the murder rate of Calgary for a population that is slightly less than 3/4's of Calgary's population. What gives?

Thunder Bay has had its first. The victim is from Toronto. It's possibly gang related.

https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-ne...ntified-627874

Quote:
According to a Thunder Bay Police Service media release, the victim who was found with severe injuries on South Marks Street and later died in hospital has been identified as 21-year-old Edmond Clovis of Toronto.

On May 22, officers responded to the 300 block of South Marks Streets just before 5 p.m. for reports of a severely injured man. The man was taken to hospital, but soon died of his injuries.

It was later determined that the man’s injuries were the result of a physical altercation.

Higher native population, 12 of the solved murders have been committed by natives and 13 out of the first 19 where native victims also a Larger transient population. I would like to know how many people that committed murders in Edmonton have live at least a year in the city, it seems often that when they name a murder suspect they are from somewhere else.

Almost every suspicious death in Thunder Bay is native people or transients. I would assume as much for Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince George as well.

Lots more disorder, petty crime and that kind of stuff in the city over the past two years. Around my building downtown we've noticed a significant increase in crime, vagrancy, IV drug use.. Edmonton has always been a rough city due to the transient nature of the workforce, proximity to some reserves that have significant social and poverty issues. The downturn in the economy has really exacerbated some of these issues. I think this is why you are seeing the muder rate spike
