Cold front came through overnight, a mix of sun and clouds today with a high of 16C and a low of 11C. Yesterday was a lovely 31.2C.

The cold front went through northern NB last night too. There was accompanied by a vicious thunderstorm with downdrafts, downing power lines and power poles. Over 5,000 without power this morning on the Acadian Peninsula.

Bridge between Caraquet & Lameque (CBC)

The south of NB was not affected (thankfully). High of 25C in Moncton today, mostly sunny but with risk of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Still 29 right now in Halifax, but it's projected to fall down to +8 tonight and then go back to more seasonal temperatures (the seasonal high is only +16).

It's nice to see that summer has finally arrived across the nation. Let's hope it holds all the way through until September.

Shanghai has been winning the weather lottery day after day. 28c and sunny all weekend.

18C and sunny after the cold front. Below avg but not a bad day for May standards.

Ottawa's high was 16C, Toronto 13C and Windsor 12C so it looks like the cold front spared us the worst.

Friday in Vancouver was a lot like Thursday. Dry, sunnyish, cloudyish, warmish and even the same temps. The high at Vancouver Harbour was 18 C, the low was 11 C.

In Vancouver, we usually don't leap into summer. We inch towards it verrrry slowly.

"Inching" alright. I have been out of the country for a spell, and the weather seems stuck just where I left it.

This May will end up being one of the top 5 coldest Mays in history for many parts of Southern Ontario. Looking back at records since 2000 , my area has never had a May so cold. Going beyond that, it becomes evident that this month will enter the record books. Hopefully June will be better but from what Im seeing its not looking that warm either.

Castlegar's average highs for this time of year have hit 20C. So to commemorate I will dust off my "Great Canadian Averages for Today" thingy:

Kamloops 21.9
Windsor 21.4
Castlegar 20.3
Winnipeg 20.2
Ottawa 20.1
Montreal 19.9
Toronto/Regina 19.7
Edmonton 19 (No average available just "normals")
Calgary 17.0
Vancouver 16.9
Victoria 17.1
Halifax 15.9
Whitehorse 13.9
Yellowknife 11.9
St. Johns 11.5

Interesting that Ottawa is warmer than Toronto or Montreal?

Edit: Forgot Windsor: 21.4

Why do you include obscure warm places for BC but not the rest of the provinces?

LOL was going to say the same thing. If you wanna add mid/small sized BC cities then you should do it for the rest of Canada as well.

Haha well I live in Castlegar and Kamloops is my province's hottest centre with averages. If you want to add other cities go ahead would love to see your provinces hottest places but I have no idea which cities those are.
And i've been doing this for years this way.

Okay, today we took a leap. Got a start on my summer tan (the area between my elbows and wrists) this afternoon. Mid-afternoon temp at Vancouver Harbour is 20 C. There were lots of people out on the seawall today. Looking forward to a few more days in the mid-twenties. Perfect timing for the holiday weekend.
