Michelle Corbet, Reporter/ Memphis Business Journal

Quote:
With heavy airline traffic in the summer months, June, the final month of the airport’s fiscal year, could take annual enplanements, or total boarded passengers, over the 2 million mark for the first time since 2012, the last full year Delta operated its hub at Memphis International (MEM).

Delta no longer Memphis International's largest carrier
Michelle Corbet, Reporter/ Memphis Business Journal

Quote:
Overall, the airport added 86 flights since 2014, with American and Southwest Airlines Co. adding flights and the addition of carriers such as Allegiant Air and GLO Airlines. MSCAA is also seeing a trend of airlines replacing regional jets with mainline aircraft.

By Madeline Faber/ Memphis Daily News

Quote:
On July 21, Boyle formally opened a 50,000-square-foot Class A office building at the northwest corner of that quadrant. Half of the building is pre-leased to Helena Chemical Co. for its Southern business division. Just north of the new building is Helena’s existing headquarters, which opened in 2001 as Collierville’s first multi-story Class A office building.

Edge District Could See ‘Banner Year’
By Madeline Faber/ Memphis Daily News

Quote:
The Edge District, roughly identified as the margin between the Central Business Improvement District and the Memphis Medical Center, is a priority area for both the DMC and the recently established Memphis Medical District Collaborative. The MMDC works on behalf of the Memphis Medical Center’s eight anchor institutions and hospitals to make the area more attractive for potential employees and residents. That change starts with the streets.

I've read there's a chance Frontier is going to try 4x weekly to MCO. If they do that, that's a lot of service to Orlando with Southwest daily, and Allegiant at 2x a week to Sanford. Delta still have the Sat only nonstop to Orlando?

I hope Allegiant is seeing good numbers for the LAX flights so American will open up service there. Them and Delta on that route flying daily would push those prices down.

Frontier is tinkering will one stop, same plane service. I think Memphis as that stop on some routes would be great for some otherwise long, thin routes.

AirTran's former CEO is now heading Spirit, bet he may be eying Memphis again as he's indicated that he is looking to add more midsized markets.

If Top Golf was to go downtown as said to be looking in the article. This IMO is probably the only location I can see happening.

https://www.google.com/maps/@35.1440.../data=!3m1!1e3 (use laptop to get the 3D angle, instead of mobile)

Between 4th and Danny Thomas. That block where Lit and Vista Inn sits. That location is near the baseball stadium for a good skyline view. Also it's near the Entertainment District. This is probably the only good available space. Here's from all sides.

Look at the space taken up for the one in Las Vegas in a downtown setting.
About the same as the block in Memphis

Megasite finalist planning $500M investment, 600 jobs
Tyler Whetstone, twhetstone@jacksonsun.com

Quote:
The Memphis Regional Megasite’s first tenant could be Sentury Tire Americas, a Chinese tire manufacturer who, according to sources, has narrowed down its options to the Megasite and a site outside of LaGrange, Georgia, for its first U.S. manufacturing operation. The Atlanta Business Chronicle has also confirmed the company’s search. According to the Chronicle, the Sentury Tire operation could bring an initial $500 million investment and more than 600 jobs to start, and could eventually expand to several thousand jobs. The plant would also have about 100 research and development jobs. The eventual investment could top $1 billion, the Chronicle reports.

David Allison, Editor/ Atlanta Business Chronicle

Quote:
The paper reported that the plant would be situated on about 545 to 560 acres and would bring about 100 research and development jobs. Pinnacle Financial to Anchor Boyle’s Building
By Madeline Faber/ Memphis Daily News

Quote:
The new $20 million, 155,000-square-foot building will bring Class A space to a starved office market. The office tower at 949 S. Shady Grove Road will be Memphis’ first substantial office project with speculative space in nearly 10 years.
