This, I do agree with.

Toronto is free to trade it to us for Olli Jokinen... I hear he also scored 30+ goals a few times and has missed the playoffs more often than not. We'll even give you a discount and just take one of the 1st round picks this time.

If Edmonton takes it.. would this be an NHL record of sorts?

The Quebec Nordiques are the last team to draft 1st overall in 3 straight year...

1989: Mats Sundin
1990: Owen Nolan
1991: Eric Lindros

Well, if we pick Galchenyuk or Grigorenko (both centers) in the draft we might need to do a blockbuster trade...

We have Desharnais, Plekanec, Eller, Leblanc as our 4 centers which is great depth... but we'll have no place unless we trade one of them.

Plekanec has the most value so maybe include him in a package for a high 1st 2013 (1st-10th overall). This where I see Calgary going for it, if Jokinen doesn't resign.

I wouldn't want to be in Timmins' shoes right now. The more I think about the players available at the draft, the more I wouldn't mind us picking a D (in that case, no question trading Pleky).

Having Markov/Subban/Gorges/Dumba (or Murray)? back there will make Price's job a lot easier.

The 11th best defense this year (pretty surprising considering we're a lottery team), will likely get even better.

Ah, thanks, I always forget about that one. People like to say that winners are made from drafting high, but what's interesting is that none of these 3 ended up in Colorado for their cup win.

Nolan went for Ozolinsh, Sundin went for a bunch of players (and I can't remember if any went on to help Colorado or not), and Lindros - well, Forsberg is the obvious answer here but the other pieces definitely contributed.

It's kinda a weird story compared to the Crosby/Malkin or Toews/Kane/Sharp stories we see today.

They should have just given it to Columbus! maybe the Bluejackets will trade Nash to the Oil (god I hope not!) for the pick...

Nash, in my honest opinion, is EXACTLY what the Oilers are missing. Goal tending and D need to be improved, but we need a top line strong centre.

Unbelievable...

If the Oilers get some solid defensive players, they are going to be a very strong team next year.

If the Oilers draft Yakupov then they'll have a surplus of talented young forwards. I like the core of Eberle, Hall, Nuge. Maybe trade some valuable assets like Gagner and Paajarvi for some defence or goaltending.

I think a good goalie is what the Oil are missing, but Nash would be a HUGE pickup for the Oilers.

oilers need defence and goaltending so we'll give you Luongo and Ballard for a second and third round draft pick. Oilers instant cup contender!
