..and damn that is huge. Although it's not going to have a roof height as tall as other buildings like the International Commerce Centre, or Shanghai WFC, it looks much taller than it is because it has no setbacks, and does not narrow out as much like other buildings (Taipei 101, Burj Khalifa) There's not many buildings in the world with a "solid" roof height

1WTC Freedom Tower LIGHTS OFF (Seems Very Dark Right Now)

Hey, what's going on with One World Trade Center Freedom Tower's Construction Lights inside the entire building? I just looked at the Earth Cam from Liberty Cams & it seems VERY DIM & Dark. 4WTC is still lit up like how 1WTC used to be. Are they cutting cost on Electric? Anyone know's what's going on? Please Get Back To Me! Thanks! :-)

Agreed, but SWFC and ICC both have pretty solid roofs, SWFC from only some angles though. Taipei 101's main mass is about 1300 feet with a fairly thick tower going to 1470. I would say 1WTC is in the same height caliber as T101, Sears, Guangzhou IFC, Kingkey tower, with Jin Mao, Petronas and 2IFC being a bit smaller and SWFC and ICC being substantially but not dramatically bigger.

Either way it's a very massive building, this and 432 park ave plus the other countless developments are going to change NYC forever.

New Port Authority chief Pat Foye addresses audit, W.T.C. in exclusive interview

March 14, 2012

Quote:
How is the W.T.C. redevelopment going, in your opinion, both in terms of construction and leasing?

I think we’re beginning to approach the point at which… you can see completion on the near horizon. [One] W.T.C. happily is at the 93rd floor today. I’ve been at the site twice this week, and I’ll be again at the W.T.C. site later today. For a building that’s going to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of 2013, we’re approximately 55 percent leased, with a number of other prospects in the pipeline. [Meanwhile,] steel is going up on the W.T.C. Transportation Hub and the Oculus building, and significant progress is being made there as well.

I've read every post here since 2010.....I don't get it.

How are we going to get a jump from 92m to 100 with one steel erection?
Where are the 6 floors in between going?
The beam is going to be 78 ft?

Please explain?

I guess not...lol

I knew of the mezzanine floors, there were references awhile back to zen's prints, but it didn't make sense to me at the time.

I've never quite understood the point of skipping floor number. I mean at least they are in numerical order, but the empirical meaning is lost if they skip. Might as well give the floors all Disney character names, or letters of the alphabet.

The mezzaine floors can be counted as a single floor if you want since they are at the height of each office floor. That would give One World Trade Center a total of 101 floors but not 104 or 108 or 110. The base is 20 floors high so it counts as well.

We are currently at floor 93 not 92M. The 93rd floor is 1,208' 4" and the 100th floor will go up to 1,240'. The core columns being erected now are at 93M. When 93 gets done or close to done then the perimeter columns would go up to floor 100. The next set of core columns will likely extend up to floor 101 and the perimeter columns will go up to 102. This will probably go on up until the Tower reaches the roof.

It's in the naming. Floor 100 is not actually the 100th floor.

4 floors left?

So we have 4 floors left, and although they are different than previous floors because of the hat truss and topping out, I assume that it i will still take only about 5 weeks? putting us mid april. Right on schedule

Well from here on we have 100, 101, 102, 102M, 103, 103M, 104, 104M, 105, and the parapet that brings it to 1,368'. I would say the Tower will top out in May or June depending on the weather and wind conditions. Not even the construction workers know when it will top out. They might have a schedule and they try to stick to it but they can't control the weather. The schedule has changed for the Tower several times already. At least the Tower will top out so a few more months won't make a difference as long as they are making progress.

Again I will use Otie's picture to demonstrate the top. All credits go to Otie, but the same questions need to be stopped. The same questions about the top keeps being repeated. The answers are a few pages back. Look back and your questions are answered.

I have a question,
Why they don't make an observation deck at the top of the tower ?
