The streets are lined with anti Tricar tower signs. The NIMBY's are spending money to stop the tower.

I do not understand who exactly is opposing this primarily, is it the massive houses across the street off of Plane Tree? There are maybe 20-25 houses on that side road and I doubt many could see this tower given the big lots and mature area. I'snt the rest condo's and commercial??

I have not been out that way in a bit but seems strange the huge amount of opposition to this (or is it just 20 people who are yelling loudly )

It's the people on North Centre, east from Richmond. Primarily the senior residence on the north side and the condos on the south side.

Most likely it is a couple of neighbors with free time. The majority probably aren't even aware of it or care one way or they other.

Usually the case a vocal minority masquerading as the majority.

Ya beat me to it. Ya there are a ton of seniors in this area that would appose it. Although the other post about the big mature trees blocking it out is a very good and valid point as well.

Sadly some people equate "consultation" to agreement with their opinion.

“Frankly all, we’re just stalling a bit here,” Zaifman said.

Pretty much.

Maybe next time they should be putting affordable units in their developments - it would have gotten at least Turner and van Holst to join Helmer and Zaifman.

But again, like I've said, this is very ugly building. I know Kasian Architects can do so much better. Perhaps of the 24 partners at Kasian, J.P. Thornton is one of the weakest.

Tricar has changed their proposed plan again.

Now 15 floors and spread out rather then being a point tower.

Tricar should go back to their original 22s plan is the NIMBYS still wine. Force the city council to grow a pair and make a decision.

Yes lol. The Meatheads guy has been trying to find a new home for his strip club for a couple years. He's tried east and south, time to go north lol

Jesus what are they complaining about? Why is this city always so reluctant to raise the bar a little? Good ol' boring London, I'm surprised Tricar just doesn't say "fuck it" and build their original tower in a city that's more appreciative of it.
