Making good progress on the 13th floor wall and post forming and pouring. The floor print is now smaller with the remaining floors being only a rectangle shape instead of L-shaped.

Looks like York has given up on building the 3 story office commercial building fronting Southdale Rd for now. They have removed the shorter tower crane. Market for new office space is dead now and for the foreseeable future.

Wonder if they may change the plans and convert this to a residential tower like they did at their retail plaza at Oxford and Westdel Bourne. They had planned to have office buildings at the back and have just changed that to two mid rise residential towers.

The website for this new building has been updated (with floor plans, renderings, etc): https://www.sofialondon.ca/

The building is expected to be ready for occupancy in September 2022.

Updated rendering from the website:

You may be right.... artistic sketches of the master plan for Yorkville (the name of this area), from the new website show that residential is proposed for that exact spot.

Got over 50% of the 16th floor walls and posts now formed and poured. Should see the remainder formed and poured on the east end by the end of next week. Forming started for 17th floor slab is also started on the west end.

Have now poured some of the 17th floor walls and posts on the west end and forming for the remaining 17th floor walls progressing well. Will definitely have the 17th floor and roof slab poured in the next 2 weeks. Roof top features and mechanical penthouse to follow and the structural concrete work will be finished.

Mechanical penthouse and rooftop features nearing completion. CTV reporting they had some forming collapse on the roof. Apparently nothing serious as they where back to work shortly after.

Nice picture. Thanks for sharing.

Though I do find it hard to believe that the entire building will be ready for occupancy in September (as per their website) or even in October. Is it common for a newly constructed building to rent out the few bottom floors, while finishing the above?

Yes, I believe someone on here lives in 515 Richmond and they were still working on higher floors when they moved in. I know when my in-laws moved into Pomeroy 1 (Southdale and Col Talbot), the upper floors were still being worked on, and people had started moving in months before they did.

Very common indeed for high rise buildings. Very tall buildings it is common to see lower floors occupied before the concrete forming of the higher floors is even finished.
