The People's Republic of Moreland (Melb)

The City of Moreland is a large-ish local government area with a population around 150k in 51 square kilometres which neighbours the City of Melbourne (pop: ~100k) to the South, City of Moonee Valley (pop: ~110k) to the West and City of Darebin (pop: ~150k) to the East. It's well known for being the heart of Labour/Unionist politics in Melbourne and a hive for everything left-field (pardon pun).

The heart of the City of Moreland are the "Brunswicks" - Brunswick itself and East and West (where I live) Brunswick. The main drag is Sydney Road - the original road to Sydney from Melbourne.

Photos from the Sydney Road Street Party/Brunswick Music Festival today.

Enjoy the ride. #brunswick

I enjoy seeing other Australian cities beyond the usual. It looks like as vibrant a city as any, though the sad rail line looks awful. Nice photos, thanks!

I visited the city many years ago, it may not have the initial wow factor of Sydney but I found the people couldn't do enough for you . Great photos , it's easy to see why Melbourne consistently get voted World's Most Liveable City.

Very attractive city.
That rail line doesn't look that bad- could use a little sprucing up.
