St. John's, NL. Taken last evening by me from The Rooms (the provincial archives and museum). Click the image to get bigger ones.

I'm guessing from the big hill in Douglas Park. Maybe a little lower down the slope than the top.

If this were a competition, i'd give the best skyline prize to Niagara Falls.

I don't know about the "best" part... but it certainly has the tallest buildings...

London has an awesome skyline and for a city it's size it has a lot of quite tall towers with a nice mix of residential and commercial.

I think the "feed" building in downtown Brandon is kinda cute.

Kamloops has a great skyline & so does Nanimo for their same sizes. They two of my favorite BC cities.

Kelowna's isn't up to much for a metro of 180,000 and all the buildings you see are condo/resorts. Very little commercial.

One thing that people often forget about the Thunder Bay skyline is that our main skyline is actually for city of 50,000. That and all of our high rises are all over the place, and it really detracts from it. If you put all our high rises in one cluster we would have a decent skyline.

Is the Brandon one the old MacKenzie seeds building. They produce those little packages of seeds for gardens. I believe it will be turned to mixed use condos or rentals and office on the lower floors. (in the free press not long ago).

I condensed Sarnia's skyline. It wouldn't be bad for 80k. I have no fondness of Sarnia, never been except maybe to defend a little industrial brother.

real Sarnia skyline

Kitchener is by far the worst Canadian skyline for a city of its size.

You could at least have posted a more flattering pic... like this one:

pic taken by me, summer of 08

But in a way you're right, K-W's skyline should be better for a city of over 1/3 of a million people.

^Actually K-W's population is closer to half a million according to wikipedia which makes it's skyline even sadder. It's skyline reminds me a lot of Victoria-low, flat and uninspired.

Any way you cut it, KW's skyline is the Thunder Bay's Skyline of the over-300,000 of cities. Actually, there are angles that make Thunder Bay's skyline interesting, which is apparently more than you can say for the above.

Fort William

Port Arthur along Cumberland; the tallest buildings downtown are actually cut out of this angle.

Both images taken by Rocket1964

Keep in mind that Thunder Bay is two cities of 50,000 people located five miles apart, not 5 blocks like Kitchener and Waterloo.

^ I think these photos of KW, by WaterlooInvestor, definitely do it more justice than those posted earlier, since they show the scale of the city. The thing about KW's 'skyline' is that it is spread out and there really isn't much in the way of height, concentration, or iconic tall buildings. But in a way, it sort of makes the city look larger in scale. Once it starts getting dark and all the city lights turn on, you can look out and it seems like quite the vast expanse of city. Could easily pass for almost anywhere in Etobicoke or Scarborough with all of those typical-of-Ontario residential high-rises around.

Best view in my opinion is on McLellan Park. My camera doesn't do panorama, but if someone could get a 360 from the peak of that hill, it would be amazing. Preferably on a nice day before the summer is over. Of course, to really experience it, you need to actually be there. It's quite the vantage point.
