Because according to GilmoreStation , tower 1 already sold out . It didn't even need to go to public . I keep an eye on newspaper , but I didn't see any sales marketing.

Don,t know . 0ne of the 3 towers anyway. Gilmorestation in another thread stated he/she bought a unit already. You can check out Brentwood vs Gilmore thread. Even has avg sold price high$900 .

Weird. When a tower sells out it's something that the developer usually advertises

Come on, this is Vancouver. Nobody here bothers spending time on details such as which tower they just bought into. Buying real estate in Vancouver is the safest and most rewarding investment on the planet, so who cares? These owners will never even visit Vancouver to see their units completed as they are only line items in their oversees investment portfolio...

More seriously, I do dig the dark spandrel, but WHAT THE HECK is that hideous thing above the main entrance!?! That thing makes Nordstrom's SW corner look like a work of art!

Hmmmm....... if I remember correctly, this condo was marketed in Hong Kong about 1 year and half ago. This created some indignity among local buyers and prompted new regulations. Please correct me if I am wrong though.

Very common for towers to be sold to "family and friends" of the developer. There was a recent investigation by the Globe and Mail in April about many real estate agents getting first dibs to buy presale condos and flip them for a profit. Some were acting as nominees for wealthy investors outside of Canada. The practice so prolific and egregious it continues to go unchecked....

The podium facades don't have the detailing that Brentwood has, and the tower doesn't have as much style as I thought it would - there's dark spandrel, but then it just has a lighted box on top.

Yup, THAT. The whole podium is Sovereign-esque monstrosity but that corner is the most random thing out there. That gives everything James Cheng has ever created a run for its money.

Way to go in making a landmark tower look cheap. The spirit of The Mark lives on in Onni's work...

Yah - no kidding.

This is going to be new tallest in Metro Van and BC.

Definitely an attention grabber even to those who don't care.

At the least they can do better than spandrel squares.

The most "anticipated development" to "friends and family" of developers outside of Canada.

Gotta keep the costs down so that poor local buyers like me can finally afford to buy some

No - this is brutal.

Its going to be a gateway tower into Brentwood.

Tallest in BC.

Busy corner.

No excuse to have this treatment at ground level.

Is that the S/E corner of Lougheed/Gilmore? If I were Onni , I would spend more just to dress up that corner. Can cheapen every where else, but that corner faces the world which speaks volume about their quality.

Any bets on whether that corner "art" is seafoam green? Looks like it.

That corner is actually at the NE corner of the podium.
