There is no cladding on the spire. That's the finished product.

Lol no, the side facing Figueroa where the construction hoist elevator was. Cladding isn't finished yet.

Oh I thought you said spire not spine. I don't know when that will be finished. Soon.

Its going up right now. I was down there on Xmas day and the first few floors appeared to be installed above the lobby levels if I'm recalling. The internal elevators are now working and they are fitting out the hotel rooms right now it seems.

Sweet. And I hear this is opening on March 8 (my birthday!), right? Then LA will have the tallest building in the U.S outside of New York and Chicago, before losing that title to Philly.

And seriously though, that really does look like Q1. I never realized that until now.

The WG has been the tallest outside of New York and Chicago since September 3, but opening won't happen till March 8.

Check out nearly 50 new photos on the WG website, as project construction enters the final stretch:

Also, not sure if the anticipated grand opening will happen on March 8, as the hotel is not accepting reservations before March 22.

I love that this tower doesn't overpower the library tower despite it being technically taller and downtown still retains that distinctive pyramidal shape, it just beefs it up some.

^ I agree and its a gorgeous addition to downtown LA-just think in a few short yrs that area around Staples is going to become LA's version of Toronto making downtown broader more!

Anyone know what those horizontal lights (they look like Christmas white lights) are on the 73rd floor, south side of the tower?

not many cities do the snow covered mountains behind the skyline thing better than Los Angeles. That's a great clear shot of it.
