Yeah I know, I was looking at observation deck pictures from the GE building and this happened to be in there. Technically the observation deck is in the shots.

Gem is really looking great from that angle!

I still feel like viewing this building from the street - though limited views there may be - takes most advantage of the shimmering effect of the gem-like design of the facade. Viewing this from above at the Top of the Rock it reflects the streets and buildings below, and as a result, appears much darker. But viewing it from the street it will appear lighter - as it reflects the sky - and the facet effect will be that much more visible. The best views of this building will be from the 5th - 15th floors of nearby buildings that have a clear view of it, unfortunately.

Not that it doesn't look cool and unique and from the Top of the Rock, I just don't think that will be the best place to view it.

I always thought that this is the trickiest location to build a tower in all of the world. The GE building and midtown in general really limits what you can do. And I'm not talking about the insanely small lot sizes, but the design tastefulness.

The way the facade matches the midtown masonry is impossibly awesome, modern, and bold. Slim, functional expressive form gives it the right to sit next to the GE building. Just another "slab" of NYC immortality.

Looks like they are attaching mounting plates for Derrick installation to remove tower crane. Should make great photo ops from GE building!

I'd say that this is more futuristic than Beekman, which is a homage to many historic buildings in the city. The Tower Verre however will take that crown with ease when it finally happens.
