Comic Relief

Are there days when the antics at Hamilton City Hall are too much to bear? The times when the latest decision (or non-decision) from Council is giving you a headache, an upset stomach or worse?

No need to head to the medicine cabinet. Just visit Hammer in the News, 'cause sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

Ancaster now hosting ArtSprawl where you drive by art outside people's homes was pretty good.

One person seems rather upset. She missed the bus...err, the fishing boat. Hook, line, and sinker were in her tackle-box.

Farley, how do the craccoons get through the one-way gate to begin with?

Mac Students get tending-to-mental-health break

The Mac Board of Governors approves a 2-day Fall Break, championed by Students Union president Siobhan Stewart.

The mid-semester pause, she said, "is necessary to help students tend to their own mental health. It'll be especially beneficial for first-year students, who have a whirlwind of new experiences between the beginning of frosh week and the end of their first semester," she noted.

On the fact that the well-known booze fest called Hallowe'en falls during the Break, Ms. Stewart thinks it's a coincidence but remarked:

"It's up to students how they want to spend their time off, whether they choose to carouse with friends or catch up on rest."

“It's really an opportunity to focus on wellness, whatever that means to you.”

We can only hope that great strides will be made in bringing a carousing experience to millions of Canadian working folk, so we can all focus on wellness.

Isn't post secondary life basically just boozing it up all the anyway? Pretty sure they don't need a break for that.

When asked about the decision to allow a 3-day boozefest, Chancellor Blue Willswill stated that the demands came from both inside and outside.

"Faculty members complained that they barely had time to organize their lectures after the hectic summer break. Maintenance staff were exhausted after cleaning dorms, the volume of beer bottles being overwhelming. So when the Students Union President approached us to request a week-long mental-health-with-booze-break, it made so much sense."

"So it was pretty much an inside-outside job. Like the reversable raincoat my father wore in the 1960's".
