A revised site plan was presented on Thursday for the new Veterans Home additions, planned near 3 Mile Road NE and North Monroe Avenue NE. The previous site plan was reworked due to conflicts with existing wetlands. Now everything has been shifted further north,
closer to Lamberton Street NE, and concentrated around the existing Veterans facilities. Under this new plan, demolition of several existing buildings will be required, including the Rankin building, a chapel, and part of the existing Home for Veterans structure. Not clear if these structures would have remained if the original positioning of new buildings was approved. The style and overall massing of the new construction did not really change at all. There will still be four new residential buildings, with 32 units each.
