Nothing as cool as the projects from the last page but here are an assortment from Calgary.

A new proposal in Mission called the Edgewater. One unit per floor.

This is a nice smaller building going into the East Village with retail and a restaurant by XYC design.









A new office for Moda Architecture in Inglewood.





I'm still waiting for this city to finally get something organic looking without angles.

Yeah it diverges from the norm for sure. Kind of interesting vibe though. Nothing comes close to that Winnipeg one though that had the military helicopter and generally looked like the set of a horror movie.

Well the building itself was something of a horror, so it made sense.

The courtyard area of the Shores is very nice. I'd like that view.

What isn't captured in the pictures of the Shores is how much it's improved the Bronte harbour area. It always was an upper class harbour but the area around it wasn't at all. The Shores and their restoring of the historic houses along the stretch of road has greatly improved it and brought more people to an area that at one point was pretty dead.

Haven't seen the shores since it was under construction - really seems to improve the area. It was amusing to hear how much people opposed it though. God forbid someone ruin their village on the lake with condos (for rich people)!

That Branford building is... something. Yikes

Is Brantford the local members were saying is amazingly urban compared to Oakville?

If so, I'm not surprised. That looks nice and dense. And it's great addition the building.

We had one proposal here that was like a welfare version of that - fully new construction, no heritage, but with a glass portion that looped up the side and across the roof of the brick part. It was absolutely lovely by our standards but got transformed into a cheap, regular apartment building once approved.

I believe that is Burlington you are referring to. It has a larger and noticeably more functional downtown that oakville. Oakville's downtown is beautiful and historic, but often feels little more than a boutique shopping/dining area for the rich. The building posted above is in bronte, which is Oakville's secondary historic area. It's much smaller and dominated by a half vacant mall and plenty of 1960s/70s apartment towers.

Brantford is the city (in)famous for demolishing a block of historic buildings and having a half vacant downtown. Things have improved or so I hear. The downtown is very large for a city of it's size however.

I dunno; that Brantford Expositor building does the classic bad facadism move of turning what was a great building in its own right into nothing more than wallpaper for a new building. Given that it takes up the whole block, surely there could have been a more sensitive treatment or set-back for the original Victorian structure.

Brantford is slowly improving, a college (forget which one) has set up shop downtown, I think the building posted is a student residence.

Tearing down that block of old buildings will never be forgotten though, its absolutely unacceptable.

Wilfrid Laurier University.

For SHH, Brantford's main claims to fame (other than Gretzky) would be as the former home of Massey-Ferguson and the site of the Alexander Graham Bell homestead.
