wow, some tremendous panoramas - the shard is such a spectacular tower.

That last panorama - can you make it larger? It's beautiful... view from Deptford right?

It was. London NIMBYs make San Francisco look like Hong Kong.

I dont mean to go off convo, but the walkie talkie building really shouldnt be built, its butt ugly and is out of the city of london cluster :/ .

Anyway... The Shard is really growing, it was about half that size when i saw it last, two months ago!

In the fourth shot down, what is that for with the water and what not? Is it always running or it just like a gutter for run off? Anyways, its kinda cool and I dig it.

I believe it's a "river", a water feature.

Wow, why is the core much taller than the floors?

I think the floors are more complicated (every single one is irregular), and take longer time

That is almost what we saw early on in the construction of WTC1. The core is obviously the most vital and complex element of a tower. In this tower, I would assume the core is rising much higher to allow the floors to be built much faster and easier.

The core rises faster because it has to go up first, structurally. The core's not necessarily more complicated, but it's concrete, it takes time. Steel goes up faster during construction, so the concrete has to get ahead.

Sure doesn't look like there are going to be very big floorplates on top. They must be able to charge a fortune to make this thing economical.

It looks stunning! Did I read right somewhere that there will be a hotel inside? Do we know what chain? I'd love to stay there

Assuming I don't have to sell an arm. And a leg.
