Mecca Flat Blues

If you -

are interested in late 19th Century apartment architecture.,
find South Side Chicago history fascinating,
like urban history
want to know more about the early 20th century African American experience in Chicago,
get jazzed by the Blues,
are curious about the modernist expansion of IIT
get hot for Mies van der Rohe,
enjoy mid-20th century long form journalism,
thrill to the work of Gwendolyn Brooks,

RUN, don't walk, to MECCA HOUSE BLUES, now at the Chicago Cultural Center. FASCINATING!

This morning I read the description on Lynn Becker's site (you should too). He has a great, compelling, overview/review. I went and WOW. Fantastic.

mods - i put this here because i really think people in and out of Chicago should know about this. And it is about a building. A really phenomenal building, replaced by an icon.
