This building is already getting interest internationally for being a state of the art Children's hospital as mentioned in the Financial Post.

On the health research side, we are just completing an 800,000-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art research space for Sick Kids Hospital — there is no place else like it. We are seeing a group from Europe who sought us out because they are interested in doing something similar.

They couldn't be any more creative with the name of their organization?

You'll never forget the name of their hospital, that's for sure.

The name is what got me in here, too. Is "sick kids" a term used for a lot of children's hospitals in Canada, or is this pretty unique name? I know down here, people would be very nervous with that kind of name for a children's hospital.

It's actual name is the Hospital for Sick Children, but is often just called 'Sick Kids' for short. Other children's hospitals in Canada have regular names.

Sick Kids was founded in 1875 and has grown into an integrated complex comprising patient care, research and learning. 9 centres within the hospital specialize in bone health, brain and behaviour, cancer, cystic fibrosis, heart, pain, image-guided care, genetic medicine, and transplantation.

I see nothing wrong with the name at all. Why want to hide the fact that kids get sick? It's not nice, sure, but this hospital does amazing work. I know a number of folk who spend more than their fair share of time receiving treatment as Sick Kids.

Back to the topic of the building itself though, it is wonderful cladding. I would love to see something similar on a taller office block too.

I don't think 'wrong' is the right word. You're used to it because you're from Toronto, but I did find it a weird name when I first heard of it. By definition, people seeking treatment at a hospital have a health issue. It's like calling a race track, the 'Fast Horses Race Track'.
