Where is that exactly? Looks like it's directly north of the station?

I know church attendance is low, but can't the church be repurposed. Like having a swimming pool would be cool.

It doesn't make sense. I like to blame the viewcones or OCP for destroying this piece of heritage gem. If a tall condo can be put next to it, perhaps this church building can still be preserved. Same thing for the Lutheran Church at Oakridge. It will also be torn down. There was a time when downtown had lots of beautiful buildings too. They were torn down due to a push for North-American style modernization, resulting in many heritage structures gone forever. The same situation is also affecting the suburbs now. How sad this situation is, and short-sighted of planners. Makes me more appreciative of cities like Victoria and London.
Hey!! Detroying this curch, esp in a young city like Vancouver, is criminal, or just about. Can't people on SSP Van write to the city? Yell, howl, do whatever to save this!!

Thanks for the update! I think Parc Elise is trying hard to be the most generic wedding cake midrise on the Cambie Corridor.

Here's the rendering from that angle - not all that bad.

Really? What's good about it. Just a generic lowrise pile that could be in any suburb.

It at least has some setbacks and variation in the materials at the corner.

Phase 3 Open House Events

For those who are interested, there will be a couple of open houses for phase 3 of the Cambie Corridor. It really is shocking how much of the area is being kept as single family homes.

Quote:
Open houses
Thursday, June 15
4:00-8:00pm
Oakridge Centre Auditorium, 650 West 41st Ave

Saturday, June 17
11:00am – 5:00pm
Oakridge Centre Auditorium, 650 West 41st Ave

Please note these two events will provide the same content at two time options.

Hundreds of single-family homes on Cambie Corridor to be rezoned for townhouses

An entire neighbourhood near the geographical centre of the city could be rezoned into an area of townhouse developments.

The City of Vancouver’s draft plan for the Cambie Corridor’s third phase involves rezoning several hundred single family homes into townhouses in an area spanning from West 16th Avenue to the north, Ontario Street to the east, the Fraser River to the south, and Oak Street to the west.

The largest cluster of proposed townhouses is located around the King Edward Station while secondary clusters are next to West 49th Avenue and along much of Oak Street.

Bright yellow highlights the proposed rezoning from single-family residential to townhomes. Click on the map for an enlarged version. (City of Vancouver)

Nice start but not even on the level of Moodyville where traffic issues make densifying more tricky.

If you check out the information boards on the City's website, you'll see that the grey area is the Oakridge Municipal Town Centre study area (details in June 2017) - so presumably that area is one where they're contemplating adding more density than townhouses, but have a more detailed planning program still to complete.

Thx. Although it's weird that they have included all the properties along 41st for example since most have been developed already (or are about to be)

A good start but doesn't go far enough to add density to a rapid transit corridor.
